What a Day! April 23, 2008

This morning I got a knock on the door, and I had to jump out of bed and let several men into my home.  It wasn’t a bad thing since they were here to install new windows and doors in my apartment.  I live near the airport, and in order to reduce the noise from the planes, the apartments are all getting new windows and doors.  This week is just my turn.  They started doing the windows in Peanut’s room, but that was it.  They didn’t even finish them.  Tomorrow they will probably be back again.  Luckily Anthony will be off of work, so he can take us out of the house.  It was a bit weird going about my normal activities with men in the other room.  I felt uncomfortable about talking and singing to Peanut like I always do.  What if I say something embarrassing.  Well, I won’t have to worry about it tomorrow.

My entire schedule is off today.  Since we woke up early, Peanut took his nap at noon.  Then at around 6 when his usual nap ends, he was just so fussy.  It was like he wanted to take another nap.  He did for a while, but just didn’t feel comfortable.  Then we went to get food and bumped into my FIL.  So we brought him back home and back to his house.  Talk about an unplanned day.

The good thing is that I finally have more pics!

First I will start with Sylvia’s finished Persuasion Shawl

Alicia’s Baby Blanket

The lighting in my living room is terrible, so I apologize.

Can’t sleep April 22, 2008

So it is after two am and I can’t fall asleep.  Both hubby and son are asleep, but I couldn’t stop thinking how much more I have to knit.  I need to finish Alicia’s baby blanket, and I am already half way or so.  This weeken I had no time to knit since we went to Fiesta on Friday, and then shopping on Saturday.  I would have taken the knitting with me, but I was afraid to get it dirty in the car.  Plus the shopping bag I have it in is huge, so it would have been an inconvenience to carry it.  I also am only working on it at night.  In the day I am with Peanut, but once Daddy gets home, the needles come out!  Peanut is getting antsy with me, though.  Every once in a while he will come up to me and slap the bag, or step on it, or worse, grab the yarn and run.  He’s getting better.  ok, I think the keyboard is waking them up so I gotta go.

Almost done with the shawl!  Just need about 5 or 6 more inches and I can bindoff.  Now I have started a baby blanket for Alicia.  I am trying out the hooded blanket pattern that comes with the pound of love yarn.  I bought it in light blue from Joann’s.  There was a bit discoloration, so I will have to cut it at the stain and knot it back together.

So I realized after my second repeat that the needles I was using to make the shawl were too small.  The Eyelash yarn was too fluffy that you couldn’t see the pretty pattern!  I Didn’t unravel it cause I wasn’t in the mood to deal with all the yarn, so I just casted on using another ball of yarn.  When I do run out of the other balls of yarn, I will unravel the little piece I made.  You can definitely see the pattern now.  I went from size 10.5s to 15s.  I changed the number of stitches I casted on, but that is pretty much the only thing I had to do different.  Oh, and I am not going to use the second color of yarn the pattern calls for.  I just didn’t like the way the two colors yarn looked next to each other.  And I wasn’t the only one who noticed.

On Saturday I had a lot of fun at a potluck knitting meetup.  Anthony was glad to take care of Peanut, and I stayed out til around ten.  I got to meet a lot of new people, and the food was great.  Too bad the all the knitting I got done will be unraveled some day… but atleast I learned about the yarn before I got too carried away with knitting.

I missed my Sunday meetup but I was just so tired that I didn’t feel like getting out of the house and driving across town.  I just spent Sunday with my family and a really bad headache.  Okay, it’s time for lunch, and I have some Olive Garden leftovers.  Yummm.

I casted on two nights ago, and it looks ok.  The yarn I’m using is Yarn Bee Playful, and it is super soft.  I’ll post pics later.

I have been waiting and waiting for the pool to open, and when it did, it rained!  But its been a while since it rained to I decided to take Peanut for a dip.  It would have been a big drama, but luckily he was busy flirting with a little girl to notice that we were in cold water.  We only stayed out for a short while, but he is fast asleep now.  I don’t think he will wake up for a good while.  Maybe I should take advantage of this and cast on for my shawl…mmm…maybe later.

So I haven’t gotten online for a while, but I come with a lot of pictures!

On March 30th we had a yarn swap at my knit meetup, and I got 2 very nice yarn bee mosaic yarns.  That night I casted on, and the next day I had a brand new tote!  I still have to line the bag, since I didn’t felt it, but this is something that will be quick and easy.

This past weekend, my mother was kind enough to take me to some thrift stores and joann’s and I went crazy buying yarn.  So now I have this great collection of yarn.

Finally, here are some pics my husband took of me in my newsboy cap.  It was fun modeling, and there were some very silly pictures.

I have finally taken pictures of my Newsboy Cap from SnB Nation.  I am almost finished, just need about ten or so rows, and then I have to start working the brim.  Which I don’t look forward to, and I might put it off until I meet up with other knitters, and I ask them for help with picking up stitches.

I used a multi-colored yarn, so the cap looks different from every angle you look at.  And it has a funky thing going on the top.  I like it cause I can put the section of color that matches my outfit in the front, brown, khaki, or burgundy.

New Project, with cables! March 19, 2008

I finished my hat, and it came out nice, just a little crazy looking on top.  I’ll post pics later.  I still have yarn left, though!  I am currently working on my newsboy cap, from the SnB Nation book.  I started yesterday, but lost count of my rib stitches, and frogged it.  This morning I went back, and worked about 4 or 5 rounds.  I have to charge my camera, but as soon as I do, I will post my pics.  As long as Peanut lets me get on the computer.
